Nei secoli passati il presepe si diffuse in molte parti del mondo grazie all'opera dei missionari, frati francescani e gesuiti là dove arrivava il cristianesimo. Fra le tante forme religiose che si sono innestate nelle culture locali il presepe é sicuramente quella che si è radicata maggiormente. Il motivo potrebbe essere legato ai fatto che, al di la del significato religioso, il Natale è una festa della nascita, della famiglia e riguarda tutti.
In past centuries, the nativity scene spread to many parts of the world thanks to the work of missionaries, Franciscan friars, and Jesuits wherever Chistianity arrived. Among the many religious forms that have become embedded in local cultures, the nativity scene is certainly the one that has taken root most deeply. The reason may be linked to the fact that, beyond its religious significance, Christmas is a celebration of birth, of family and concerns everyone.
In den vergangenen Jahrhunderten verbreitere sich die Krippe dank der Arbeit von Missionaren, Franziskanermönchen und Jesuiten in vielen Teilen der Welt, überall dort, wo das Christentum Fuß fasste. Unter den vielen religiösen Brӓuchen, die in den jeweiligen Kulturen Fuß gefasst haben, ist die Krippe sicherlich diejenige, die am tiefsten verwurzelt ist. Der Grund dafür mag darin liegen, dass Weihnachten über seine religiöse Bedeutung hinaus-ein Fest der Geburt und der Famlie ist und alle Menschen betrifft.
